María Sánchez
María Sánchez - Multidisciplinary Artist
María Sánchez is a contemporary Florida-based artist, noted for her figurative work. Having been born in Barquisimeto, Venezuela (1993), she then developed an appreciation for that world around her at such an early age. María's artistic adventure began as she trained in diverse forms. These forms of expression ranged from music to painting and ballet. She later earned a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism and Media Studies, which further improved her perspective and her ability to communicate complex narratives through her art.
Influenced by psychoanalysis, neuroscience, quantum phenomena as well as mysticism, María's work explores the different levels of our psyche and the worlds within the self. Her art frequently incorporates several customary materials such as paper and metal, combined with various digital elements to create a dialogue between the natural and the artificial. She does often use minimal backgrounds within her work. This is to stress the importance of negative space for creating harmony, just as silence plays a major role within music.
María's distinctive style is a harmonious blend of surrealism along with figurative elements. She artfully combines precise soft brushstrokes and studied use of light with shadow along with careful attention to each detail, to result in refined visual compositions. Her artwork evokes a sense of wonder. It invites viewers to reflect on human dynamics.
During her career, María has showcased her work in national and international galleries and spaces, presenting solo and group exhibitions in cities such as London, Berlin, and New York. One of the most outstanding projects was her collaboration with the WildAid Foundation, in which she created original pieces for the global campaign against elephant ivory trafficking.
María Sánchez continues to push the boundaries of her artistic practice, constantly seeking new ways to challenge conventional thinking. With each new creation, she encourages viewers to delve deeper into their perceptions and question the world around them.
